Agree, last year this same time we had quite a tough time going up Langies.

Both Langies & Bannerman were treacherous in these conditions last year[/quote]
I can vouch for that, experienced it first hand and it was treacherous !

Myself and a friend spent Saturday night at Lakes Cave at Cobham. After dropping off our packs we continued up the valley and managed to find some nice powder at around 2500m:

Hi All,
We also had a fun weekend. Going up Bannerman on Saturday, and down Langlies on Sunday. The snow made it difficult to go up last part of Bannerman, as it is very steep and the snow was quite deep. Overall there was much less snow than we hoped for. At sunrise Sunday morning it was about -7°C but quickly rose to 2°C, so it was quite hot when the sun was shining so the snow will melt quickly.
Langies had very little snow. We found quite a lot of footprints on top af Langlies, it is good the mountain gets lots of visitors.
Here are a few fotos:

Here are two photos taken about 30 hours apart of Giants Castle, you can see how quickly the snow melted in 1 day:
Saturday (from the Bannerman Ridge):
Sunday (from the Langlies Ridge):

Nice to see the other photos and pity we didn't bump into you guys Gerrit & Gustav! Our experience was similar - less snow than expected and really cold (we measured -9C at 3100m) pre-sunrise yesterday morning. Love the mix of colours this time of year with golden grasses and patchy snow

@Stijn - All and all it was still n very interesting hike...the only encounter we had with you guys were your footprints above Langies pass! Have you lost a pair of socks? We saw 2 pairs of socks at the stream above Langies on a rock...
@Gerrit - Thanks for the photos! A first for me to have met up with a VE member + friends. Was great meeting you guys!

Richard and I went up to the contour path below Old Woman Grinding Corn and tented on the plateau there looking into Ships Prow Pass. Not much snow about and it was melting fast, but the views were still great!
