Guess where?

Looks like an old tin piece that.
It might even date back to winter of '45.
How about:
Hans Wongtschowski? (also put up a route on the Bell)
and
Liz Burton
but not the one that pretended to do stuff - the one that actually did.

Has that tin been up there since 1945? If so, amazing who well preserved the inside is.

First ascent was by Father AD Kelly and GJ Miller, in 1913. Not sure the tin is that old though. I would expect names like Brian Godbold, Doyle Liebenberg, Ted Scholes, Martin Winter, Malcolm Moor and Gillian Bettle to be on the papers with dates in the 40's and 50's

Good call made by mnt_tiska and tonymarshall!
The earliest date was 1932!
Some of the more well known names were:
Dr Park-Ross
Udo Zunkel
Stanley Rose
Hans Wong
Liz Burton
Martin Winter
Gillian Bettle

As requested by Andrew:

Clue: those who have hiked with Ghaznavid will know - he never wears shorts. But perhaps on the day that had the worst weather he had ever experienced, an exception could be made while they dry...

Not ever having hiked in the area, and so based solely on your trip report, I would surmise that it is one of the peaks you bagged with AndrewP after setting up camp on day 5 (not Bothlolong because you forgot to take a summit pic and went back on your own), so either Ships Prow or Champagne. If I had to guess one I would say Ships Prow.

So close yet so far...

Botlolong

Ships Prow

In fact it was Champagne Castle

Seeing as you didn't quite get it, but the answer has been given away, I will post this one as a 2nd round. The answer I am looking for is the name of the peak:

Clue: I did not bag it, but someone in the group may have...
