Yes, I agree with Stijn, Mnweni valley in the foreground, picture possibly taken from quite high on the ridge on the north side of the Mnweni?
Edit: Oops, no points there. Closer inspection of the photo shows the proportions and angles aren't quite right for that Mnweni area, and neither the summit slopes or that 'pass'. And where the photo was taken from was puzzling me, although it sure has similarities to that area.

I am not convinced about the Mnweni area. The little berg is just too big for that area, especially the ridge coming down in front of where the Mnweni Pass would be. The real ridge is a lot steeper than this one, and not as broad.
Where is it though? Good question. The little berg somehow reminds me of the Loteni area

I'm not convinced about the Mweni area as well. The picture was scanned from a slide, taken in the 80's or 90's. I don't recall a hike to that side of the Mweni at that time, but it may just be that those brain cells have flown. Can't find the rest of the set of pictures either. I thought it may be the East Qriqualand part of the Berg, Qacha's Nek or Ongeluksnek area, which I don't know very well.

Looks like Lotheni to me - the ridge being the one by Buttress Pass. This is a photo of Redi Peak and its surrounds from the top of Taylors Pass - notice the similarities with the ridge coming off the escarpment:

He could be right. But what is that pass on the right-hand side? It can't be Ka-Masihlenga, which tops out very high up. I seem to recall being in that area in the mid 90's.

Haven't read through the entire thread, so I'm not sure if this one has been done before...
Anyone know the name of the pass that our group was about to ascend?

Tricky one. Central berg, I would say either Buttress or Redi. Going to go with buttress pass.

I'll guess the Devil's Knuckles for Dillon's image. Looks potentially like Knuckles Pass (South) on the left...

That image was scanned from a 35mm slide at about 1200 dpi. Just guessing. It's what I usually do for the initial imaging. I would have to find the original slide amongst several thousand which are "filed" away in boxes somewhere, in order to scan it at a higher resolution. I think we should let this picture slide off in to the great big junk bin in the sky. Maybe some day I will get around to it again. I think Ghaz was the closest. It's his turn to produce a new picture, and he has the energy.
