Not quite the right thread, but close enough...

This photo was posted on fb by an American run page. Is it my imagination or is that one of the pinacles either by Vultures Retreat? The background looks so familiar.

Reminds me of a brilliant photo of an alouette on Devils Tooth. Big colour one in a photo shop in Durban. I used to walk passed the shop often when I was at school. Every time I went passed I asked if the photo was for sale. Every time the shop owner said NO. One day the shop was gone. And also the photo.

This is not one of our usual quiz questions but a genuine request about a segment of the Drakensberg. This picture appeared in today's Tribune next to a letter from a reader about the cablecar.



It must be one of their stock pictures. Can anyone figure out exactly where it is ?

would that not be Garden Castle mountain - if its at the Garden Castle area, I don't know of anything else that looks remotely like that.

I suppose it could be. Taken from the air it looks like a real mountain. That little pinnacle gives it away.

"From" is a difficult question - I can clearly see a fair number of peaks that I know, and I suspect I know the answer, but I'll let everyone else have a go first...
