I'm guilty of a traffic jam but another one on the way to notties on the old road, and again back out of notties towards the highway. so that's 2 jams for me.

On may up to Estcourt this morning it seems as though the high berg south of Giants got a bit more snow over the weekend. When I left of Friday I did not notice snow south of Giants.

Looks like more on the way

To keep track of things, the above mentioned snowfall was No. 8, and it must have fallen during the night of 5/6 August. Comparing the sat images, on the 5th there where only very thin snow lying on the crests of some very high ranges. On the 6th, fresh snow was very evident on the big range that Afriksi sits on, the Thaba Putsoa Range, the high range between Sani and Mokhotlong, and further down around Qacha's Neck/Ongeluksnek. Only thin snow on the KZN Berg that time, see image in post #54796 of snow in the Southern Berg. Sat image below from the afternoon of Aug 6th:

This major snowfall currently under discussion is No. 9 and fell on Aug 7-8.

Take nothing but litter, leave nothing but a cleaner Drakensberg.

The entire escarpment seems to be still well covered. There is actually still patches of snow in the midlands today above 1800m.

Doing a day walk from Sani Top to Giants to celebrate Spring Day and just wanted to get an idea of what is till up there. Berg been very hazy over the last week so can't see much. @Selous: that link gives you images with good resolution. For quick checking there is also a link at the bottom of each page on the site called "Maloti-Drakensberg Satellite Images", this gives you a zoomed in view of the Maloti-Drakensberg region.
