First clear sat image from today:

I was quite impressed by the thickness of the snow along the escarpment and in the Northern Berg this time.

Take nothing but litter, leave nothing but a cleaner Drakensberg.

Sadly it was very hazy from Mpophomeni Peak today - couldn't see past Inhlosane, never mind the berg... All we could see was:

We were a group of 5 going up Bannermans Pass this weekend, camped on top and came down Langalibalele on Sunday. There was lots of snow going up the pass which made hiking up a struggle. I sank in knee deep most steps, sometimes even hip deep and had to be dug out once or twice. It took us 4,5 hours to get up, loving every minute of it. Waking up the next morning to the most beautiful weather! The hike across to langalibalele was quite a mission as the part where Bannermans cave is, is on the south side and it was frozen solid. We were slipping badly until we decided to head down the valley rather, sliding partly on our backsides. Going down Langalibalele wasn't a problem and soon we were down off the snow line.

View up Bannermans Pass

My stick disappearing in the snow

waking up to sunshine in the snow!! What more can one ask for?

Enjoying the view!

Bannerman Pass is bad enough when its just rained or the pass is flooded, must have been quite something in the snow. First time I headed up that pass almost the entire path was flooded, waterfalls everywhere...
