Its a clear sunny day over Vulture's retreat, but the station is showing some odd data. It seems abnormally cold, humid, and receiving no sunlight, I'm beginning to think it may be buried!

Do you guys think this amount of snow will hold until the weekend? Planning to go take some pictures of the snow capped Maloti's (AfriSki)?

Yea I'm pretty sure the snow on the escarpment will be around for a good few weeks.

Check with Afriski before you try head out there

From their FB page

Please be advised that the severe weather has caused essential service disruptions in the Maluti Mountains which have affected the power supply and cellular services to the resort.
All guests are safe and reestablishing these services are a priority for both management and our various Lesotho counter parts. The national electricity supplier has sent a helicopter to reestablish the resorts power supply and Vodacom technicians have started repair work on the cell towers.
Meanwhile on the resort, the lifts are running and guests are experiencing the magic of African snow.
Road services are currently clearing snow from the roads. We will be in touch with progress reports as conditions normalize.

I tried getting up Giants Pass this morning. By the time I reached the contour path, I was walking on top of a layer of frozen snow over 30 cm deep. My feet slipped all over the place and I was grateful to have an ice axe to help cut steps (snow too hard to kick them). I would have needed crampons to get up the pass safely so had a day of fun on the contour path instead. The snow should still be impressive this weekend

So you sprinted north & breezed up Corner Pass with a periscope?

Hi Andrew, no idea, wish I had asked. We had a chat. He had come up Hiltons, down another, up another and finally down at Lwslies. All in a day!!!
I hope he is on VE?
