This is my first post so if I used the wrong reply I apologise.

It seems Ladysmith got hit quite heavily yesterday. "Between 4.30pm and 6pm, over 100mm of rain was recorded." Which resulted in flash floods in the area.

Has the Berg had rain? Planning a trip up Organ Pipes and down Mlambonja from 16-20 Dec.
Hoping there will at least be water in the streams for camping and drinking...

Has anyone been recently?

thanks
Joe

From the 4 to 8 Nov the Mnweni area had no significant rain. Still there is water in all the major rivers. No drinkable water between Waterfall Cave and the escarpment top, Ntonjelana pass.

PMB has had lots of rain this week as well. I see the forecast is for the rain to be quite substantial next week. Come on rain - I don't want to spend a December GT hunting for water!

There was good flow on the uMlambonja river ,nice and clean (11-12 Dec).
Water up on escarpment south of Mlambonja pass was a little stagnant but still drinkable after boiling, and a few trickles between organ pipes and Thuthumi ridge but not much would be a good idea to try get in lesotho side before descending down Organ pipes.

Water update for Garden Castle for 15-18 December:
- Mzimude rivers south and north pass: trickling from about 2700m, although they are only sporadically trickling at this altitude. Below 2400m they are consistently flowing.
- Leqooa river: still dry. Stagnant pools start about 500m from the SA border.
- Mashai river up Bollard Pass: also flowing till about 2700m, so basically till just before you leave the gully
- river between Mashai and Matebeng ridges: looks like it is flowing from about 1km past Bollard Pass (although we were on the ridge above it)
- Mlambonja river down Mashai Pass: dry till about 2550m

Water at one stream between Sphinx & Breakfast Stream, Breakfast Stream just flowing, one stream between Breakfast & Blind Man's Corner, nothing at BMC Campsite, two streams between BMC & the river you follow to Keith Bush Camp (will edit to add name when I remember it), flowing pool about 30m downstream where you cross this river, one flowing pool near Keith Bush Camp, no water up Gray's Pass, flowing pools in iNkosazana river on escarpment near top of Gray's Pass.

Hope this helps.
