Looking forward to everyone's feedback. The closest I came to mountaineering this weekend was getting my Chinese infantry to summit a steep hill in Wales (not really sure why a Chinese army would be in Wales, but any way):
I ended up missing winning world champs by 1 point
but the tournament went to a good friend of mine, so its alright

I was part of Elinda's group that did Ifidi and Fangs Passes.
We had a great hike with good weather, except for some rain and sleet accompanied by strong winds on Sunday morning on the summit. I'll need a few days to get my photos sorted out, and will then post some write ups with pictures.
@ Ghaznavid, well done on coming so close to winning world champs.
Did a South African win?

Thanks
It was a tight race between myself and another South African, we played to a (admittedly very boring almost casualty free) 16-16 draw in the 5th round (6 rounds total), and went into the final round tied on 119 points. I won my last game 31-1, he won his last round 32-0, so close! He is now the only South African EVER to have won the ancients section of an international wargames tournament.
Looking forward to the Grant Traverse, 11 days to go
See you then...

Had a great 9 days at Injasuthi, with some good day hikes did a trip to dinosaur cave and was surprised to find Dave Sclanders scouting around the area for painting sites, found a good one !!and meant we didn't have to clean the cave either.
On the pine tree side, managed to remove 101 trees mostly in the 2-5 m range,
in the river area below Cataract valley and ringbarked 3 bigger ones... with a lot of help from witchiwoo.....

Hi All,
We walked to Marble Baths and halfway up Leslies before turning back.
A few drops of rain some days but nothing requiring a raincoat. What fantastic weather to be out in the berg!

Our group of 8, led by Geordie, had a super hike with all going as planned - late start up to Marble Baths, day 2 up Leslie's (got all the right tracks!) Saturday spent 'playing' around on top at Mafadi & Upper Inj cave, and down Judges on Sunday. Slept in a great cave Sunday night....no name.
@ Hermann - we didn't bump into you but spoke to Jo & Lorinda who did!
@ Wizman - pity, you got so close, if we had known.....

Take nothing but litter, leave nothing but a cleaner Drakensberg.

We completed the Bell Traverse and tried to climb as much as possible. We managed Cathedral Peak, the Bell, the Sisters, Outer Horn, Inner Horn, one small summit of the Chessmen, the triple summit of Twins, and a trip to the escarpment. The weather was good except Sunday - we did have some sunshine but had to put up with wind and several waves of rain, fine for hiking but not that great for climbing. Had lots of fun! If only we had one more day of climbing up there! We will be back.
Must say, after having done the Bell Traverse several times (it was also my first overnight trip in the Berg), I still find it enchanting as ever and will keep going back. It has so much to offer for hiking, scrambling and climbing. It will always have a special place in my dreams and memories.
Glad to hear everyone else had a good weekend too!
