The upcoming hikes thread
Anyway, back on topic. Its always interesting to hear everyone's easter weekend hiking plans, especially seeing as its 4 weeks away.
I MBC doesn't have anything too serious planned, John Pickup is leading a khulu bagging mission on Mont-Aux-Sources.
MCSA has a team climbing Cathkin and Monk's Cowl that weekend.
Personally I hope to have a team for a 4 dayer, but currently don't have any confirmed members. The plan will be 1 of 3 routes depending on group size - and staying away from the Northern Berg that will be packed with hikers as always:
- if we have a tiny group it will be a mission at my old Garden Castle. Up Mzimude Pass (one of these days I'm actually going to climb that pass, I've done enough attempts that didn't end up at the pass), down Verkyker Pass with a large detour to Tsepeng, Leqooa 1 and Leqooa 2 along the way. The Leqooa peaks may be my new Popple, just hopefully not to the extent that I have 3 failed attempts on them...
- if a descent sized group I'm thinking up Stones Pass down either KaNtuba Pass or Nhlangeni Pass, working from Cobham
- if its a big enough group that security shouldn't be an issue, the Lotheni looks good, up Buttress Pass down Giant's Pass sounds fun good
One way or another, if I manage to get together a team, I will be doing some khulu bagging...
So, what is everyone else up to?

@Plouw: at least Tseke isn't an often done pass, if you were doing Organ Pipes you'd probably have so much traffic that you'd need to put brake and indicator lights on your backpack so that people don't walk into you

I hope you aren't all too exhausted at work today after stock counts keeping you up into the early hours of the morning...
We're a December year end so have pesky auditors bugging me all the time
Nice relaxed few days in the berg...ghaznavid wrote: Anyway, back on topic. Its always interesting to hear everyone's easter weekend hiking plans, especially seeing as its 4 weeks away.
One night in Bannerman hut with my wife & friends, 2nd night at Giants Castle camp
Anyone on the GT re-supply team? I think you'll be at the hut the night before me, so feel free to leave any whiskey you dont wanna carry up the pass

Shame, you know the old saying - "auditors are people who show up 2 months after the battle and kill the survivors"...

Yup, but I used to be one, so I can't be too mean to them, only a littleghaznavid wrote:

Enjoy the Berg guys! My next hike there will be 19-21 April (why does time move so slowly sometimes?).

Ghaz, have you considered an Mnweni hike? You've just about flattened the Southern Berg and have yet to experience one of the awesome passes in the Mnweni area.
Something like up Mnweni Pass and down Fangs Pass - I doubt you will be disappointed...
