I see there are at least 4 groups sleeping in the Mnweni Valley on Saturday night, two of them pretty large. We are aiming for Shepherds Cave. Did consider ChiChi but we we let the two other groups heading there have it. :cheer:

Look forward to meeting some of you others out there.

Wow, there will be quite a bit of traffic in the Mnweni valley this weekend :laugh:

Amphitheatre this weekend! Taking my GF up for the first time. Anyone have had any safety issues with Basothos up in the Amphitheatre region lately?

Was up last weekend and camped in the Bilanjil valley which is the one behind the hut. Didn't see a single local.
There were donkeys grazing on the Crows Nest slopes facing the Tugela on Sunday which would obviously indicate a shephard or two near by.

So I've got a bee in my bonnet after seeing all these awesome write-ups and photos of Nguza and Pins Passes! The usual suspects are full of excuses - are any of you keen to join me for a light & fast mission? It looks like the best way to tackle both passes on a weekend hike would be to head up Nguza and across to Pins Cave (26km) on the Saturday and then down Pins back to the MCC (21km) on the Sunday. Obviously the weather would need to play ball.

I'm free for the next 3 weekends so drop me a line if you're keen to join! :thumbsup:

Happy to go at any pace (no need to run) as long as you're happy to go minimal, spend all day on your feet and not take the taxi's on the gravel road sections - I'm a bit of a purist that way.
