The reason I want to do an easy one is 'cos I want/need to test some cold-weather gear, with as little risk as possible (ie being able to bug out if necessary).

Anyone keen?

(Specifically I want to test my down quilt and mattress. My plan is to carry both my FA Ice Breaker and the quilt, just in case the quilt isn't warm enough. I'd like an easy ascent and descent cos of the extra weight.)

Witchiwoo and I are looking to do something in the lower berg over the May 1 weekend, maybe involving caves. It will have to be the less popular ones as it will probably be a busy weekend.

@Josh: I have sent you an email.

@Jacques: I am thinking Mnweni (wait - did I just say Mnweni?). Either Fangs/Rwanqa or Ntonjelana/South Saddle Pass/Christmas Pass. But I am flexible. Just not Mnweni or Rockeries.

@ Ghaz: So you want to go up Fangs & down Rwanqa?

I've done Fangs, but it's a very beautiful pass & I don't mind doing it again.

Never done Rwanqa before though.

Have gone down Ntonjelana.

How many in the group?
Fast hike?

Keep me posted.

Currently a few possibles, but no confirmed takers yet.

Definitely not a fast hike by AndrewP or Stijn's standards  It is hard to qualify this though - bearing in mind that I have done close to 800km of hiking in the 365 days, I am not the slowest person around, but I definitely am not the fastest around either. I want to "cheat" the road section, so it makes it quite a short hike - not a coincidence seeing as I want to bag some khulus along the way!

@JSchofield Still recovering from an injury so we would rather do something a little "light duty" and at our own pace.

Ghaz, hope you have a great hike, but don't underestimate those Mnweni Passes, Fangs and Rwanqa are both tough, and that won't be a short hike, even if you cheat the road, especially if you add in khulus. I'm hoping to post a write up soon on Christmas Pass (which I did over Easter), and which was much tougher than I had imagined.
