Hi WezleyB,
There are also a number of books out on Berg hikes,(David Bristow's Best hikes of the Drakensberg for one) that is a good starting point. It also depends on your fitness level, but a nice one we did not too long ago was in the Mnweni area (just South of the Amphi), up Mnweni pass, sleep at the top (ledgers Cave or Mponj Cave) and then down Rockeries pass, nice 2 or 3 day hike.

Google Earth is a great tool to use to learn the general layout of the berg, download the cave & pass locations from here

Hi a small group of us from Durban [now even smaller] will be heading to Monks Cowl this weekend 06/07 Dec
- Sat 06 Dec - arriving/start hike from Monks Cowl car park on Sat 06 Dec - sphinx via blind man's corner, contour path, then drop down to Zulu Cave
- overnight in Zulu Cave
- Sun 07 Dec - early start, climb Ntunja/Gatberg, return to Monks Cowl car park
We have had a couple of people pull out of the group - so if anyone is keen to join - we have approx maximum 4 places if you would like to join this hike.
Leave a reply or PM me on this site.

I'd love to do an easy-ish 3-day, 2 nights on the top of the 'Berg hike over the 1 May long weekend. Ideally something like Amphitheatre. The reason I want to do an easy one is 'cos I want/need to test some cold-weather gear, with as little risk as possible (ie being able to bug out if necessary).
Anyone keen?
(Specifically I want to test my down quilt and mattress. My plan is to carry both my FA Ice Breaker and the quilt, just in case the quilt isn't warm enough. I'd like an easy ascent and descent cos of the extra weight.)

I am taking my mother on a 3 day hike over the Easter weekend. We are going up Sani by vehicle and walking nice and slowly across to Thabana Ntlenyana. Anyone keen for an ultra-slow and not very difficult walk is welcome to inbox me.
