Snow Watch 2013

Yea, I'm not so sure about the possibility of snow. I'm a little skeptical of yr.no's forecasts, they seem to often forecast snow when none is looking likely.

Snow-forecast.com is showing no snow, and mostly clear skies. Wind also looks to be lightish for the weekend. (10-20km/h)

Mountainforecast.com is showing zero precipitation for Giants Castle Peak

Windguru is also agreeing with it being a dry weekend.

It does look like it will be rather cold though! Temperatures look like they will be below freezing on the escarpment for most of the weekend. (Blue line = freezing level)

Hmmm, I see the forecast for the central Berg is now including around 3cm snow on Saturday night. Perhaps yr.no was right after all, lets wait and see!

Snow reported in Sutherland, so could be on the way up

On the whole, things are looking rather sad for the time being. Lets hope August brings some decent snow action!

And we backed off from our climb this weekend, wanting a more stable weather system you just can't win, can you.

Well its still early days, and this forecast may change, but for the time being there is suggestion of some possible widespread snowfall on Wed/Thurs next week.

Just in time to possibly make the long weekend hikes a tad more interesting!
