I live 10 kms from Notts and there was a touch of hail earlier
and now raining, which could easily mean snow on the Berg!!

Yip this is number 10, there seems to be much more snow than the VERY isolated little patches that were forecast.

With freezing levels around 2500m, I dont think snow would have fallen below 2300m, but lets see.

Today's satellite image shows that snow (red) has fallen across most of the KZN Drakensberg escarpment. Photographs from the Drakensberg Gardens area show that snow has fallen down to 2300m in places.

@Jonwells & MtTiska

Would you venture an educated guess as to the coming weekends (5,6,7 July) escarpment weather?

By the looks of it we should have been there this weekend.

Update on the snow at Giant's Castle and Lotheni:
Popple, Mafadi and Champagne Castle still have snow on their south slopes right on top - Mafadi is basically solid white. There is still snow on the south slopes of Giant's Castle and the Tent right down to 2500m. There is snow if the shady gully on the Gable.

I will try to post photos shortly, for some reason it doesn't work on my home internet connection...
