Are you having a go at the speed record?

Would be cool to meet up with you on the summit. Can't tell you a time though, but 11:30-12 seems plausible

ccjoubert wrote: Ghaz, we have done corner in knee to waist deep snow, it was some of the most fun I have ever had in the berg. A hiking stick or 2 really helps especially where the snow hides the gaps between the rocks. We also hoisted our backpacks with a rope past the first scramble since it felt a bit to slippery to attempt it with packs.
Enjoy!

Thanks! I realise its possible, but I don't like narrow steep gullies in thick snow. The backup plan is Judge Pass (which I want to do again some time anyway).

Yes, a Mafadi record attempt is on the cards, if conditions allow. So if you guys are up there around that time, hang around for a while (and get the beers ready), but not too long as I could easily have turned around earlier if there's heavy snow on Leslie's for example.

Hoping to leave from Injisuthi by 06:30 and George's current record split to the top is 5h21m.

Good luck

We'll probably leave Centenary Hut at about 6:30, be at Corner Pass by 7, hopefully hit the escarpment at 11. Will be a push to hit Mafadi by 11:30

From Snow Report SA:

"Report just in : Beautiful snow coming down at Tiffindell"

Interesting that snow-forecast.com had not predicted any snow here in the next 4 days.

Well at first I thought Mr T was mistaken given that the snow was only supposed to begin there tonight! Snow-forecast.com gets it wrong again.

Cathedral Peak is still sunny, but the clouds have just hit the escarpment edge. This is going to be an interesting weekend!

Here are the forecast freezing levels for the weekend, well for the southern parts at least. I heard a rumour some of you will be climbing to 3450m on Saturday
