Snow Watch 2013

Hmm, yea I think the large number of light snowfalls noted this year is probably more due to improving technology than anything else. 5 Years ago, most of these minor events would go unnoticed. Having Twitter feeds coming from Sani top, new webcams installed at Afriski, and an increasing number of "snow spotters" sending in reports all means the likelihood of missing a light snowfall is reduced.

But one thing that is certain is that 2013 has been a rather poor snow season for medium-heavy snow, especially when contrasted with 2012!

Todays satellite image shows the very narrow band of high elevation snow extending from Bushman's Nek to Giant's Castle

It got as far north as Cathedral Peak as well

Here is the 3 - 6 day snow forecast, with most of it predicted to fall on Monday:

Seems like the whole berg got a decent snowfall last night. Seen reports at Tiffendel, Sani Pass & Afriski
